Cathedral of Silves, we are inside, at the north transept, in a spring hot day. This church began to be build in 1268, the year the Algarve definitely goes into the possession of the Portuguese kingdom during the reign of King Afonso III . The head of the church where we are, dates from the second half of the century . XIII , Gothic style. There are elements of other times since its construction lasted until the 1440s , but the main draws is Gothic . Only in 1538 with the silting up of the River Arade and decay of Silves , it is that the Algarve Diocese headquarters moved to Faro.
