Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen is undoubtedly one of the greatest contemporary Portuguese poets, was born in Porto on 6 November 1919, where he spent most of his adolescence, and died in Lisbon on July 2, 2004. He studied Classical Philology at the Faculty of Arts, University of Lisbon, in keeping with his fascination with the Greek world, that also took to travel in Greece and throughout the Mediterranean region. She moved to Lisbon in 1946 when she married Francisco Sousa Tavares, lawyer, journalist and politician whose five children, including the journalist Miguel SousaTavares The extensive work that has left us divided up the fields of poetry, fiction, short stories for children, the test, and theater, with stunning versions of translation of texts by Euripides, Shakespeare, Claudel and Dante, having been awarded several literary prizes.
