Stachus, Munich, München
Munich

The official name of the square is “Karlsplatz”. Since the patron of the square – Elector Charles Theodor – was extremely unpopular, the name Stachus (after an nearby inn) was used by the population. Munich used to be the capital of the Kingdom of Bavaria. Nowadays it is the capital of the “Freistaat Bayern”, part of Germany.
