Steinacleit Stones, Lewis
Scotland

A large oval stone enclosure at Steinacleit was uncovered in the 1920s by crofters collecting peat. At first it was thought they belonged to a neolithic stone circle and chambered cairn.

Subsequent discoveries of similar structures have led to the conclusion that they are more likely to be part of a 4,000 year old farmstead dwelling.
