Taskuyu Cave Tarsus Vr Mersin 678
Turkey
It is located about 10 km to the northwest of Taşkuyu Neighborhood of Tarsus District, Mersin. Taşkuyu Cave has developed in the contact of permo-carboniferous-age marbles and Miocene-age limestone layers covering them. The entrance of the cave is 214 m above sea level and the known total length of the cave is 470 m. The temperature in the cave, which is very near to the surface, is around 19.5°C-24°C and the relative humidity is between 77% and 89%. The cave is composed of interconnected galleries. Breathtaking examples of stalactites, stalagmites, columns, flowstones, drapery dripstones and pools can be seen within the cave. Besides, exceptional formations like eccentrics and cave pearls, which are very rare in Turkish caves, can also be seen in Taşkuyu Cave. It was opened for tourism on 26 December 2014.
