Tomar, Sao Joao Baptista, main chapel
Portugal

Built half walls with Corredoura (traditional shopping street), this church, based on structures from the 12th century, was reformed in the 16th century. The façade, in flamboyant Gothic style, has a portal equipped with alfiz. The Manueline octagonal tower, fitted with a clock, has Visigothic traces at the base (funerary pediment with two affronted animals, flanking a fleur de lis and a lion-shaped "dog"). Inside, we highlight the work of the 16th century painter Gregório Lopes and the Flemish triptych of the Baptism of Christ.
