Despite, or maybe because  the fact that the community of the town of Urk is very religious, it is for a many centuries very succesful in the fishery branch. Today the biggest part of the port and harbours serves as a populair marina where both daytrippers as well as hardliners are embarking for their evenings out. Eating fish is not a posibility... it is a must, because so much fresh fish is arriving from the sea every day.
