Wessex Ridgeway Nettlecombe Tout Hill Fort Vr
England

Nettlecombe is a small village in Dorset with a population of under 200 people. It is sitated near the Wessex Ridgeway, a 100km walking track through the Dorset Countryside.

The photograph was taken on the steep, defensive slopes of an Iron Age Hill Fort, Nettlecombe Tout and is situated between Cerne Abbas and the Dorset Gap. It is not easily accessible by car and involves some steepish walking.

The author, Thomas Hardy mentions the location in "Tess of the d'Urbervilles".
