Wilsum on the IJssel opposite Zalk, which lies on the south bank of the IJssel. Belonging to the municipality of Kampen, it has 870 inhabitants and is built on a river dune. The place is first mentioned in 1213.
This path leads to the floodplain area "Scherenwelle," which is managed as a Natura 2000 nature reserve. Endangered bird species such as the black tern and corncrake nest here. There are rare and protected plants such as the lapwing flower. The area is part of the National Landscape IJsseldelta.
The reformed Saint Lambert Church, which dates from around 1050, is one of the oldest churches in Overijssel. In 1580, when the Reformation made its appearance, the worship services were replaced by Protestant and the building was stripped of its "Romanesque features.
