Gateway to Hell
Iceland

On March 19, 2021, a crack opened in the ground in Geldingadalir about 40 km south of Reykjavik.  From here, lava emerged from the earth's mantle and gradually flooded several valleys.  The eruption continues even after several weeks.  Now the lava tongues are slowly moving towards the sea and threaten to flood the coastal road
