Panorama photographed at Alentejo Dunes close Marginal Avenue and near the estuary of the River Mira in Vila Nova de Milfontes, Portugal.
The climate of the Alentejo coast is Mediterranean. However, due to the proximity to the sea, there is a great maritime influence, coming from the Atlantic Ocean. Temperatures along the Alentejo coast are usually mild during practically the whole year. The most important wetland in the region is, without a doubt, the estuary of the River Mira. Its fauna and flora have unique characteristics with more than 100 rare species of plants, including 12 that are unique in the world.
The Alentejo coast has come to be considered as the last wild coast in Europe and also one of the most beautiful in the world. The beaches are, for the most part, wild and extensive with wonderful dunes.
