While visiting the Baviaanskloof (Baviaansvalley) in the Eastern Cape, I was visiting with the Kruger couple on the farm Zandvlakte. Zandvlakte is really quite an astonishing place being purposefully being rehabilitated back to nature. The Sheperd's hut is located on a mountaintop and the view looks out over the majestic environment. You can actually arrange to stay there, but do not expect electricity, cellphone reception, or any conveniences. The closest supermarket is more than two hours away (half an hour with a serious 4x4 vehicle up the mountain) There is however a gas cooker, and a bed. If you truly want to get away to write that novel, write those songs for your new cd or just clear your head.- this is probably one of he best places to go. You will be alone except for the odd wild antelope, baboon, leopard or cow.
