This part of the Great Ocean Road is named after the Loch Ard which struck a reef nearby in 1878. Only 2 young people of around 50 passengers survived the wreckage after being washed into this gorge.

Victoria is Australia's second smallest State and covers only 3% of Australia's land area but has the second highest population of all States and Territories.
