The new bridge is about to be made complete by the bascule spanning the centre gap. This will, once operational, allow tall masted yachts to pass under the bridge to moor at the Town Basin.
Auckland is the commercial capital of New Zealand but anything to the North can be considered "Northland". Preferred destination for tourists and workers alike when surf, sand, diving and fishing is involved. It has a solid rural base of Dary, Beef and Sheep as well as horticulture and wineyards. Whangarei is the regional city on the way up to Cape Reinga at the northernmost tip of the island.
