Little Bear Lake is located in a glacial cirque in the Trinity Alps Wilderness south of Callahan, California.  A five mile hike leads one from the valley up into an area of stark white granite surrounded by cliffs, though one has to find small cairned routes to reach this lake, which during this photo was still mostly frozen in the center.
