A 300' aerial view overlooking Luning, Nevada. With a population of 87 as of the 2005 census, the town is a mere pitstop along Highway 95 between Mina and Hawthorne with most businesses now closed. Originally a railroad that transferred magnesium ore was trucked in from the nearby mining town of Gabbs. The area in this view was having a lot of passing rain which was filling up the alkali flats at the bottom of the Soda Spring Valley.
