Mt Wombat Victoria
Victoria

Mt. Wombat watches over the Strathbogie Ranges and surrounding farmland.

Views are approx. 100km to the North, West and the Great Dividing Range in the East and South East.

Elevation is 799m AMSL, not 899m as written on the compass rose.

The Fire lookout is staffed during the summer months by Fire spotters and this lookout forms a chain  of lookouts across Victoria.

Each year Victoria suffers from deadly bushfires, so quick identification of fires is essential to control them.

The original Lookout was built in 1960 and burnt down by lightning in 1980

The current lookout was built in 2011.
