Nuremberg is a city in the district of Middle Franconia. It is the second largest city in Bavaria after Munich. Nuremberg's Old Town is testimony to the Middle Ages and the Early Modern Period, reconstruction and modernity. In 1882 the medieval city wall was opened and the Carthusian Gate was erected. Today, the gate tower connects the Old Town to the opera subway station, the Human Rights Road and the German National Museum.
