Red Shoe was created by Elizabeth Murray in 1996. She was New York based, considered to be a modern abstractionist, and was even said to have reshaped the medium. She is known for painting on warped and twisted canvases and canvases of various shapes. She created abstract shapes of bouncing coffee cups and flying tables. Red Shoe was Murray's first free standing art piece. It is located on the University of California San Diego campus in La Jolla, California, USA. Murray died in 2007.
