Gigapixel summit view from the top of Scraggy Mountain (elev. 6,995') in the Siskiyou Mountains of northern California. From here one can see Dutchman Peak to the northeast, Condrey Mountain, Mt. Shasta to the southwest, the Russian & Marble Mountain Wilderness further to the south, & Preston Peak w/ the Red Buttes Wilderness & Grayback Mountain to the west. The Siskiyou Mountains has a complex geology w/ each peak almost being a completely different makeup of rock. Here this particular summit is comprised almost entirely of a shiny blueschist that breaks easily & has a lot of folding. Scraggy is a seldom climbed objective & contains a summit log book dating back half a century to 1971 w/ less than 15 entries.
