Big Bear Lake is located in a glacial cirque in the Trinity Alps Wilderness south of Callahan, California.  A five mile hike leads one from the valley up into an area of stark white granite surrounded by cliffs.  Across the way is a line halfway down the mountainside that tore through manzanita bushes, caused by rockfall that fell b/w 2012 & 2014.
