The Tom Taylor Cabin was located in the Marble Mountain Wilderness near Sawyers Bar, California. It was built in the 1940s (the first original structure was built in the 1890s by Thomas Pey Taylor for cattle grazing) & used by the US Forest Service as well as those manning the fire lookout at nearby English Peak for many years. Camping for backcountry hikers was also permitted within. In 2017 the Island Fire swept through here, a high intensity burn that completely annihilated everything in its path, including the cabin. I never got to visit this site prior to the fire, which would've been a lovely forested setting w/ a nearby spring. There are plenty of historic artifacts including a wood stove, all of which now lie in ashen remains.
