Plakalnitsa is an abandoned mine in Vrachanski Balkan Nature Park. It is situated near the village of Zgorigrad which can be seen in the pano. The lights beyond the cliffs come from the town of Vratsa. On 1 May 1966, the tailing pond of Plakalnitsa mine broke. Tens of thousands of tons of water rushed down the canyon taking the lives of 118 people.
