Le Piton Fougères (1.802 m) domine le cirque de Salazie. On reconnait Mare à Martin au premier plan et plus au sud Grand-Ilet, surplombé par le Cimendef et la Roche Ecrite. Dans le lointain, Le Grand-benare, le Gros-morne et au sud-est le Piton de la Fournaise. Côté mer, on devine Saint-Denis au delà du rempart de la rivière des Pluies.
