Belfast Petroglyphs [1]
California

The Belfast Petroglyphs contain numerous rock carvings of unknown figures within basalt boulders facing Willow Creek near Litchfield, California.  They are of Maidu, Pit River, & Paiute Indian origin & estimated at around 2,000 years old.  Placed under the national register of historic places, these petroglyphs are protected by the federal government & it is a violation of federal law to deface them.
