Country Park Tyumen

First Country Park appeared on a vacant lot in 1851, when the money of the merchant Ivan Ikonnikov area of about 100 acres (40 thousand sq m) were planted thousands of trees — lindens, birches, firs and pines. The Park was named the Alexander in honor of the visit to Tyumen may 31, 1837 by crown Prince Alexander, the future Tsar Alexander II during his trip to Siberia. According to legend, the crown Prince landed on the banks of the river Tours tree. In 1868 Tyumen was visited by the son of Tsar Alexander II, Prince Vladimir, who as a token of appreciation to city residents for the creation of a large magnificent garden, planted cedar. Both of those trees have not survived.

 

In those days the garden was built two-storey house with upper gallery, home to tourists, the building for the guards. There was built a Playground for military band and dance tent, which sold fruit and pastries. The garden had a greenhouse in which grew pineapples and some other tropical plants. During the holidays in the garden, divine services were conducted. In addition, by resolution of the city Duma of Tyumen in honor of the visit of the crown Prince in the garden every year on 31 may, held festive celebrations.

 

After the October revolution of 1917 the garden was abandoned and remained in this state until 1948, when part of the garden was improved by the efforts of the workers of a shipyard. In the Park was made a pond using a log was thrown over the bridge that was installed there a shooting gallery and a restaurant with a veranda. In the Park was a monument to Stalin, hung the portraits of Politburo members, as well as hall of fame shipyard. The garden gave the name to the Garden of shipbuilders, however, this name did not stick, and its still called a Country. The garden served as a place of rest Tyumentsev, here from 18:00 to 23:00 brass band, spilled beer.

In the 1960s the garden was abandoned again, and by the 1970's, fell into disrepair. The garden began to build residential houses, a kindergarten, Parking garages, and through him opened the road to Union bridge.

A new restoration of the garden started in 2007 and Its area has decreased by 10 times, the name of Alexander became official. The Park was restored fountain, installed sculptures of residents in the clothing of the XIX century ("hussar", "Ladies walking", "Resting girl", "Boy"). The authors of the sculptures was made by the Tobolsk architect Elena Klesheva and employee of the Department of urban policy of the city of Tobolsk Marina Spirchenko.
