View from atop Eagle Rock (elev. 6,993') in the Cascade Range east of Hornbrook, California. The mountain is broad in height & the final 100 feet is a talus slope adorned with mountain mahogany. The views are somewhat obstructed by the trees, however one can glimpse nearby Ball Mountain, Willow Springs Mountain, the tip of Mt. Shasta, Mt. Eddy, the Klamath Mountains, Cottonwood Peak, & even distant Preston Peak. A wooden non-kit fire lookout w/ a ladder & top platform was constructed here in 1928, reaching 50 feet in height & used only for emergency, eventually being left abandoned. At some point it became frail & blew down w/ its wooden remains strewn on the talus.
