White River
Mount Hood

The White River originates from the White River Glacier on Mt. Hood, Oregon.  The volcanic soil leaves it muddy w/ glacial silt (rock flour).  Glacial floods (Jökulhlaups) have been a problem in the past & can be today, which is evident in this wide alluvial scar.  While Highway 35 is structurally secure for now, there have been bridge washouts in the past as a result.
