The spectacular mountain and river views of Glencoe were forged 420 million years ago by violent volcanic eruptions and sculpted more recently by massive glaciers.
The scene of an infamous massacre of members of the MacDonald clan of Glencoe by government soldiers in 1692 after a Jacobite uprising, the picturesque landscape has also been the setting of many famous films, such as Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Rob Roy and the James Bond movie, Skyfall.
