Inside Belsay Castle, Northumberland
England

A 14th century three-storey towerhouse built as a fortified residence during the Anglo-Scottish wars. The Jacobean range on the west side of the tower was added in 1615 with a further extension built a century later, since demolished, that included a walled garden.

It was replaced as a residence in the early 19th century, when the owners moved to the nearby Belsay Hall.
