Ivanjica - Boska Petrovica Street
Serbia
This street is named after Boško Petrović, a football player, pilot, and a Spanish Civil War hero. He was famous for being the first football player from Ivanjica who played for Yugoslav national team. His leftist ideas, and the sympathy for the Spanish people led him to volunteer into the International Brigade and fight for Spanish Republic in the civil war of 1936-1939. He served as a combat pilot where he scored 7 victories. He died when his plane crashed when he tried to pull out of a dive. He was given a funeral with full honours in his home town of Ivanjica.
