Fraser River - McBride
Montagnes Rocheuses - Alberta

The silty Fraser River near McBride, British Columbia at a riverside park.  With a total span of 1,375 kilometers, it begins in the Canadian Rockies spanning northwards & west towards Prince George before meandering straight south & through the Coast Mountains to the Lower Mainland.  The river's gray color is due to rock flour from glaciers in the mountains nearby, leaving a chalky powder (deposits of it appear as the clay mixed w/ the rocks on the beach).  The river maintains this color the entire way as there are no reservoirs built along this wild river, so the silt has nowhere to settle until the port of Vancouver.  This river is also a main artery for chinook salmon to spawn up in this area.

Les montagnes Rocheuses ou « Rocheuses » (en anglais : Rocky Mountains ou Rockies) désignent une grande chaîne de montagnes intracontinentale dans l'ouest de l'Amérique du Nord qui s'étend sur plus de 4 800 km depuis le Nouveau-Mexique au sud jusqu'à nord de la Colombie-Britannique au nord. Elle s'étend sur le territoire des États-Unis et du Canada. Son altitude varie entre 1 500 m près des hautes plaines et 4 401 m au Mont Elbert dans le Colorado. Sa largeur est comprise entre 120 et 650 km. Les Montagnes Rocheuses prennent une forme oblongue, étendue en longitude sur plusieurs milliers de kilomètres.
