Monte Paterno, Dolomites, Italy
South Tyrol (Bolzano-Bozen)

Monte Paterno is a mountain in the Dolomites. It is 2744m high and belongs to a broader group of Sexten Dolomites. From the top you have a beautiful view of the surrounding landscape, especially of the Tre Cime in the west.

A few steep ferratas lead to the top following former military routes of World War I on which you can still see the remains of war: bunkers, tunnels, machine gun nests ...
At the top there is the monument to Sepp Innerkofler, pioneer of mountaineering in the Dolomites who was killed there. The inscription is: "Hier fiel für seine Heimat Sepp Innerkofler am 4.7.1915"
