The Monument to the Discoveries is located on the right bank of the Tejo River in Lisbon, Portugal. The current monument was inaugurated in 1960, when the celebrations of the 500th anniversary of the death of Infant D. Henrique and is a replica of the original, built for the Portuguese World Exhibition in 1940.
The Monument to the Discoveries has 50 meters high and is formed by 33 statues of personalities related to the Portuguese discoveries, especially the figure of Infant D. Henrique the Navigator.
