Murphy's Haystacks
Eyre Peninsula

Murphys Haystacks are a geological attraction of the Eyre Peninsula.

The pink Hiltaba granite inselbergs, estimated to be over 1,500 million years old, stood exposed on top of a hill near Murphy's sheep station for over 30,000 years.

Legend has it that a Scottish agricultural advisor, promoting tillage in the area had mistaken the groups of pillars for haystacks gathered on top of the hill.
