12th to 13th Century Medieval building in the old city center of Padua, Italy, which housed its old Courthouse. The building is sided by two squares: "delle Erbe" (of the Herbs, Vegetals) and "delle Frute" (of the Fruits). The "Salone", seen here, a large room underneath what is said to be the largest roof in Europe without intermediate structure, with afrescoes on all of its walls, was used as a place where merchants gathered to discuss, make business and also judge and be judged. It also houses a permanent market underneath it, on the ground floor.
