Prior Park is one of the finest Palladian style house in Britain. It was built by local entrepeneur, Ralph Allen who owned the mines which provided the building stone. The house was built as a marketing exercise to exhibit the qualities of the stone and is now a private school. The Park is owned by the National Trust.
