Rotorua Green and Blue Lakes Lookout
New Zealand

This lookout is on a ridge straddling two of Rotorua's lakes.

They are fed from water running off of Whakarewarewa forest.

The upper small Blue lake (Tikitapu in Maori) has no outlet, and drains unpredictably into the lower Green Lake. The name Tikitapu originates from the loss of a sacred pendant in the lake.

The much larger. lower Green Lake is sacred and privately owned by the Maori with access to the public banned.
