The Siaolin Village Memorial Park integrates respect for the dead, cultural history and ecological landscape, presenting to the world the importance of precaution against natural calamities. The park is located on the south of where Siaolin Village once was before Typhoon Morakot hit and destroyed it in the summer of 2009. The park has several sections, including Memorial Square, the Shrine, Road of Suffering, and Contemplation Bridge. One major spot is the 9-meter tall monument made with the rock washed downstream during the 2009 catastrophe. Moreover, 181 baby Taiwan cherries are planted in the park, representing the rebirth of the village and the people.
