Skelbo.
This parking place is just off the A9 and it gives a lovely view to the north. The statue of the First Duke of Sutherland is just visible on the horizon. Down at shore level there are ducks, seagulls, seals and all kinds of wildlife to be studied.
To the south there is the ruins of Skelbo Castle. It is the ruins of a 14th century keep but the site has an active history extending between at least 1290 and 1787. A good place to start looking for more information is the Dark Isle website at http://www.darkisle.com/s/skelbo/skelbo.html
