St Katherine Village Center, Sinai
Egypt
The small town of St. Katherine on the Sinai peninsula lies at an altitude of about 1600 meters. Its name derives from the famous St. Katherine's Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which is located here. Many of the local Bedouins are now working in tourism, either as guides to the monastery or as mountain guides to climb the highest peak in Sinai - Mount Sinai, also known as Moses Mountain, with an elevation of more than 2200 meters.
