坛子岭景区内，俯视永久船闸。永久船闸又称双向五级船闸，单线全长1607米，由低至高依次为1~5号船闸室，每个闸室长280米，宽34米，可通万吨级船队，船只通过五级船闸约需3~4小时，主要供货运船队通航。五级船闸总开挖量3685立方米，是三峡工程总开挖量的40%。2003年7月永久船闸通航。五级船闸旁还有一个垂直船闸，供3000吨以下船只通过，工作人员幽默地称“大船走楼梯、小船坐电梯”。
是日，景区中雨，乘三级扶梯至坛子岭顶，烟雨茫茫，雾锁大江……。这里是坛子岭景区内观五级船闸最佳位置。
