View from Tsuzuraiwa-rock
Tama

When I climbed up on the top of the Tsuzuraiwa-rock, a breathtaking view of mountains was lying in front of me. I spent 2 hours to get there (960 m high above sea level) from the foot of the mountain 400 m ASL). The rock (70 m high)is famous for rock-climbers, but there is no climber on the day. I could reach to the top of the rock via a roundabout route from the east side of the rock. You can see Mt. Odake (1257 m) in the NW direction. I re-uploaded the picture because the former picture has a fault.

More About Tama

Tama area is the name of the western part of Tokyo Metropolis.  It consists of 26 cities, 3 towns and a village.  A lot of people (about 4 milion) live in a eastern half part of the area.  However, there are many mountains in the western part of Tama area, and there are very little flat land.  Many hiking spots are in the western area, so you can enjoy walking on the trail, camping, and so on.  If you see the beautiful mountain scene, you may not believe this is also in Tokyo.
