View over the Golden Road, South Harris
Scotland

The Golden Road is a 21-mile stretch of single-track tarmac that runs along the east coast of South Harris through some of the most beautiful low-lying scenery in the Outer Hebrides. Built in 1897, it is reputed to have got its name from the huge cost of its construction.
