Wallfahrtskirche Maria Trost, Fernitz
Austria

Parish and pilgrimage church Maria Trost, Fernitz.

The Late-Gothic hall church with star pattern lierne vaulting of today was completed 1514. It originated from an endowment by Frederick III on the site of (assumed) previous buildings, of which nothing has been preserved. The interior of this church, which by its architectural value and size has grown above its purpose, is one of the most beautiful and artistically interesting spaces of Gothic art in Styria. The furnishings dating from the Baroque-style adaption of the church in the 18. century were replaced by neo-Gothic articles at the end of the 19. century, the pews excepted.
