Utah
Washington, Utah is a small community just east of St. George, Washington County, Utah. The population in the 2000 U.S. Census was 8,186 and 18,761 in the 2010 U.S. Census. Shown in the panorama is the edge of the developing community and emphasizes. Southern Utah is a fantastic area for scenery and is also a major retirement community. The area was first settled in the 1870s as a predominantly agricultural community to raise cotton, but is now dependent on manufacturing, shipping centers and tourism. The area is the warmest part of Utah and is often referred to as Utah’s Dixie. The area is known for its red sandstone rock formations that are the source of major collections of dinosaur fossils and dinosaur footprints. The weather is mild and the town is located near to several national parks and monuments. The town is situated on the edge of the Mojave Desert, in the distance is Zion National Park and the largest mountain is called Pine Valley Mountains.
