Wire Pass at Buckskin Gulch, Utah, USA
Utah

One of the access trails to Coyote Buttes North, home of The Wave in the Paria Canyon - Vermilion Cliffs Wilderness area, Wire Pass trail starts as a dry wash just off the House Rock Valley road 8 miles from Highway 89.  The wash eventually descends into a narrow slot canyon with some possibly moderate boulder scrambling.  Always check on conditions with the BLM field office on Highway 89 a few miles east of the House Rock Valley road turnoff.

The Wire Pass slot eventually joins the larger Buckskin Gulch and is the main access point for those hikers lucky enough to win permits to visit The Wave.  For those not lucky enough to win the lottery, the Wire Pass trail combined with an exit by way of the Buckskin Gulch provides a great slot canyon experience.  Note that this requires hiking the road for 4 miles to complete the loop.
