Würzburg - Residenz, View 1
Franconie

The Würzburg Residenz is a Baroque/Rococo Palace of the prince-bishops of Würzburg. The construction was finished in 1744. The Residenz is one of the first buildings by the architect Balthasar Neumann. Napoleon has called the Residenz the "most beautiful vicarage in Europe". In the bombing raid on the 16th of March 1945 80% of Würzburg were destroyed. Large parts of the Residenz were destroyed also. It took until 1987 to rebuild, reconstruct and restore the Residenz to its former glory.
