Guizhou Province

Yahuixiang Miao Village, Guiyang, Guizhou. The Miao are one of the 55 recognised ethnic minorities in China. Comprising some 12 million, mostly located in the Guizhou province of China, but with many small groups scattered in other areas including Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar and Thailand. Here, on International Womens Day the women of the village play games including a tug of war against the men, races around the village against each other and take part in traditional dance in full colourful ethnic costume.
