Located on Zuoyingsia Road, Yuandi Temple, commonly known as the “Zuoying Great Temple”, is the primary temple in Cijia, Zuoying.It was built during the ruling years of Emperor Yongli of Ming Dynasty, and High Heavenly Xuan God (or the Great Emperor of Northern Pole) is the major deity worshipped in the temple.It is said that he was worshiped by Taoists for his powerful ability to expel monsters and cure illness.The reconstruction of the temple commenced in 1973 (the 62nd Year of the Republic of China) and completed in 1976 (the 65th Year of the Republic of China).The temple has become a popular temple, guarding the residents of Zuoying.There are ancient tablet and a pair of couplet from Qing Dynasty inside the temple.The “North-Pole Pavilion” and the enormous statue of the High Heavenly Xuan God standing in the Lotus Pond at the front of the temple have become the most eye-catching landmarks of the area.
